Today we took a bus to the German middle school in Rastbachtal (Saarbrücken). We met the students and their teacher as well as an artist, Volker Schütz, whom we interviewed in German and English. We went to the gym to test the artist's machine that makes distorting pictures of the body. It was a funny day. We also did a quiz and discovered which fantastic creature we're like! We shared a meal and discovered the school. Tomorrow, we will transform into fantastic monsters... |

2. Tag / Day 2
Yesterday upon arrival, we had to mime animals to revise our German vocabulary. We used this as ideas to create monstrous pictures with Volker.
We also wrote an invitation for the opening of the project on Friday. Our teachers introduced us to the painting “The Scream” by Edvard Munch, which we had to describe in French, English and German. After a short meal, we visited the Museum of Modern Art (Modern Gallery) in Saarbrücken. We were very impressed by the originality of the artworks and liked the guided tour by the German art teacher. We really enjoyed spending 2 days with our German friends! |

Le cri. The scream.
This document is a painting by Edvard Munch, called "The Scream", painted in 1893.
In the background is a sunset with vivid red, orange, yellow and green colours. In the foreground, we can see a scared character. His eyes are wide-open, his face is alonormally long and he is screaming, he looks shocked. It looks like the picture is melting (=fondre/ schmelzen). He is dressed in black, his hands are on the sides of his face. On the bridge behind him, there are two people also dressed in black. Under the bridge, a dark blue river is flowing. There are also ships/boats floating in the distance.
The scene takes place on a bridge in Norway. There are no further indications on time or when it takes place.

3. und 4. Tag / Days 3 and 4
Willst du erfahren was am Ende passiert? Du bist morgen zur Eröffnung herzlich willkommen ;) Yesterday and today, we worked on fantasy and the fantastic ! We described the pictures we took with Volker and worked on elaborating a scenario and doing some creative writing in French, English and German. These 2 days were tough, but we also had some really nice moments sharing a dessert break and coloring the black and white versions printed by Volker's "Körperteilverlängerung" 's machine! Do you want to know the ending? You're very welcome at the opening tomorrow ;) |
